Commercial auto insurance

Does your business rely on vehicles to get work done? When an employee is involved in an auto accident our commercial auto insurance protects your business. Acuity would love to keep you working and on the road.

What is commercial auto insurance?

Commercial auto insurance can provide liability and physical damage coverage for vehicles used in business. Any business that owns or leases vehicles, or whose employees drive their personal vehicles for business purposes, needs commercial auto insurance. Your personal auto policy most likely will not cover your vehicles for business use.

What’s covered by commercial auto insurance?

A typical commercial auto insurance policy may include:

  • Liability, which covers damage caused by your vehicle to other vehicles, property, or people. Auto liability protects your assets and future income.

  • Physical damage, which pays for damage caused to your vehicle, whether it is your fault or not.

    • Collision coverage is for collisions or overturned vehicles.

    • Comprehensive coverage is for non-collision related damage, such as fire, vandalism, or hail.

  • Medical payments (Med Pay), which pays for medical expenses if you or someone in your car is hurt in an accident.

  • Personal injury protection (PIP), like Med Pay, pays for medical expenses if you or someone in your car is hurt in an accident. PIP also covers additional expenses related to the accident, like lost wages or childcare. (Not in all States)

  • Uninsured and underinsured motorist (UM/UIM), which provides bodily injury coverage if you are in an accident with a driver who is uninsured or does not have enough insurance.

Acuity offers several optional coverages that can be added to a commercial auto policy such as non-owned vehicles, towing coverage, and business income and extra expense.

What type of vehicles are covered by commercial auto insurance?

Commercial auto insurance covers vehicles that are intended for and licensed to travel on public roads. Types of vehicles include:

  • Private passenger cars, SUVs, vans etc.

  • Delivery trucks and vans

  • Semi-trucks and trailers

  • Busses
